Our Inspiration

Working In A Fast-Changing Development Landscape

IIIDC’s programmatic thrust is inspired by the recognition that the development landscape is fast changing. Increasingly, private donors: trusts, individual philanthropists and private philanthropic foundations are becoming major actors on the development landscape. They are working on international development issues through a range of mechanisms: as direct operators (in partnership with governments, international NGOs and civil society organizations) and as grant-givers and partners. It is anticipated that this trend will expand, as NGOs and civil society organizations find themselves working more and more with private philanthropic foundations and trusts. Unfortunately, there has been, and continues to be a degree of frustration with the poor return to development investments that have not yielded significant and sustainable positive changes in the wellbeing of the target groups. In this context, there is an ever growing demand for evidence of value for investment of development resources. In light of this, IIDC’s work revolves around technical assistance on a short, medium and long-term. IIDC believes in creating and sustaining lasting relationships with its partners at local, national, regional and global levels. The work IIDC has done so far speaks to the passion, pride and commitment to meaningful change in Africa.
